Studio Series FAQs

What is the BPA Studio Series?
The Studio Series is an ongoing collection of small-scale productions developed in collaboration with local theatre artists and performed in the Cynthia Sears Studio at BPA.

How many productions are included in the Studio Series each season?
BPA typically presents three Studio Series productions per season.

Who is eligible to apply?
Local theatre artists and/or groups with project proposals that align with BPA’s values and mission of enriching the community through performing arts are encouraged to apply.

Does BPA fully produce Studio Series shows?
No. The Studio Series model is designed as a collaborative partnership, where BPA provides resources such as performance and rehearsal space, production support, and administrative infrastructure, while artists/groups contribute their creative vision and production efforts.

What kind of support does BPA provide?
BPA offers access to a high-quality production environment, rehearsal and performance space, technical and marketing support, and administrative assistance. The series also provides fiscal support and a structured model for artist compensation, including honorarium payments and a revenue split from ticket sales.

What types of projects are you looking for?
Projects should align with at least one of the Studio Series’ key goals:

  • To Support Artistic Development: Opportunities for local theatre makers to develop, refine, and present new productions.

  • To Champion New Works, Diverse Perspectives, and Innovative Storytelling: Productions that present original works, under-represented perspectives, or bold interpretations of existing plays.

  • To Enhance Community Collaboration: Projects that foster partnerships between BPA and local artists, contributing to a thriving theatre ecosystem.

What is the Cynthia Sears Studio?
