ALL ARE WELCOME
Reaffirming Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
At Bainbridge Performing Arts, we have always championed the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. These are not just words; the intent behind them forms an integral part of the foundation of who we are, why we exist, and how we serve our community. In this moment, as these values face increasing threats, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to them.
This work is not passive. It requires action, intention, and accountability. At BPA, we continually re-examine how we integrate the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion into every aspect of our work - from the stories we tell on stage to the way we support our staff, volunteers, students, artists, and audiences. DEI is not just a statement we make; it is a commitment we live by.
We recognize that many people in our community, particularly LGBTQ+ individuals and other marginalized groups, are feeling fearful, exhausted, and uncertain about the future. Now, just as strongly as ever, BPA stands as a place of belonging, kindness, and resilience. And a place where community members feel safe, valued, and empowered.
Theatre has always been a place where challenging and progressive discourse can unfold. A place for reflecting the world as it is, and imagining the world as it could be. A place where both discomfort and hope can be catalysts for change. As we recognize a renewed importance of these efforts, we also reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that BPA remains a beacon of kindness. A space where all are truly welcome, where harm is not tolerated, and where we hold space for everyone to gather as a community.
To those who need to hear it right now:
We welcome you. We stand with you. We are here for you.
Sincerely,
The BPA Staff & Board of Directors
