Announcing the Winners of the BSO Young Artist Competition
The Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra recently played host to an inspiring display of young talent at the 2024 Young Artists Competition. The event, filled with remarkable performances, showcased the depth of dedication and skill among the young musicians who competed.
Judges, including BSO Music Director Ryan Dakota Farris, Dr. Faun Tiedge, and Daren Weissfisch, were deeply impressed by the maturity and artistry of all participants. The performances made for an incredibly tough decision, and after much deliberation, we are proud to announce not one but two winners. Both will have the distinct honor of performing alongside the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra at our upcoming concerts on April 12 and 13, 2024.
Congratulations to our winners:
Rachel Jung, who will perform the Dvořák Violin Concerto, First Movement
Anderson Widjaja, who will perform the Andrés Martín Bass Concerto, Third Movement
Their exceptional performances earned them well-deserved recognition, and we are thrilled to witness their talents shine even brighter with the full orchestra.
In addition to our two winners, we would like to recognize two other competitors who stood out with their outstanding stage presence and command of their repertoire. They will be honored as runners-up:
• Jesse Krentz, who performed Elgar’s Cello Concerto, Fourth Movement
• Anthony Kim, who performed Saint-Saëns’ Cello Concerto No. 1, Second and Third Movements
Finally, a special Honorable Mention goes to Elizabeth Nilles for her beautiful performance of Georges Hüe’s Fantaisie for Flute.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the competitors for their hard work, passion, and remarkable musicianship. Every performer brought a unique voice to the stage, and we are so proud of each one of them.
Thank you to our judges Dr. Faun Tiedge and Daren Weissfisch, for their expertise and thoughtful consideration. Additionally, this event wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible volunteers from the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra, whose dedication ensured the day ran smoothly.
