Master storyteller, oral historian, traditional healer and respected spiritual leader Johnny Moses makes a special appearance at BPA, sharing traditional and contemporary stories to delight people of all ages. A Tulalip Native American from the remote Nuu-chah-nulth village of Ohiat on the west coast of Vancouver Island, B.C., Canada, Moses was raised in the traditional ways by his grandparents, and sent by his elders to share their teachings with all people.
Moses is fluent in eight Native languages and serves as a traveling ambassador for Northwest Coast cultures. One of the most popular storytellers in North America, he shares the knowledge and richness of his spiritual and cultural traditions with people across the United States and Canada through storytelling, lectures and workshops. He has shared stories with thousands of people, including audiences at the prestigious National Storytelling Festival, as well as at the Lincoln Center, University of California, University of Washington, Naropa Institute and the New York Open Center.
Conveyed with beauty, wisdom and humor, Moses’ songs and stories delight all children, whether wide-eyed preschoolers or jaded high school students. Listening to his unique and authentic voice, the kids laugh, learn, and are uplifted. And they always ask him to come back again.
The event is sponsored by The Trillium School, and extends from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. For more information call 360.297.3733 or visit The Trillium School.
