communityROMANCING THE BUDDHAA one-man play by Michael Lisagor | Dealing with adversity in everyday life March 22 Tickets: 2006-2007 Media Sponsor: Bainbridge Island Review Michael Lisagor performs in the high energy premiere of Romancing the Buddha, a one-man play based on his thought provoking book. The play focuses on the impact of a chronic illness on relationships, emotional health and family. Michael uses humor, honesty, and a Buddhist perspective to share how he has dealt with the impact of his wife’s chronic illnes, his own inner demons, and raising a family while finding happiness and hope in our turbulent society. Adapted for the stage and directed by BPA artistic director Steven Fogell, this play should inspire anyone who is or has been faced with a major illness or depression.
“Seamlessly weaving familiar bumps in the marital road...with the uphill climbs - his depressions, her multiple sclerosis - the slim volume demystifies what may still seem to some like an exotic practice.” – Dee Axelrod, Bainbridge Island Review “A wise and moving account of the author’s adventuresome journey toward spiritual enlightenment and social awareness.” – Richard E. Rubenstein, Ph.D., author of When Jesus Became God and Aristotle’s Children
