BAINBRIDGE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA AUDITIONS

Bainbridge Performing Art’s Classical Music Program is seeking musicians for all instruments to play in the friendly community Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra for its 2009-2010 Season. We have a welcoming, supportive atmosphere and a comfortable schedule of weekly Wednesday evening rehearsals. All orchestra instruments are needed, and string players in particular are encouraged to apply.

Woodwind, brass and string players should prepare three-four minutes of music of their own choosing, including pieces that show the greatest extent of the player’s range and technical capabilities. Contrasting styles are highly recommended. Sight-reading will be provided at the audition.

Percussionists should prepare two minutes of music on each percussive category for which they are auditioning (timpani, mallets, and snare drum). Sight-reading will be provided at the audition.

Those interested in auditioning are requested to contact the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra's Personnel Managers Lisa Hirayama (206.781.8354) or Patricia Beasley (206.842.6658) to schedule a fall audition (dates TBA) at Bainbridge Performing Arts.

Performance dates for Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra’s 2009-2010 Season under the baton of Music Director David Upham are November 14 & 15, 2009; February 20 & 21, 2010; April 17 & 18, 2010; and May 16, 2010. Rehearsals, which are generally held during the eight weeks prior to each concert set, begin in late September, on Wednesday evenings, 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. at BPA, 200 Madison Avenue North, Bainbridge Island, unless otherwise arranged.

Music has always been at the heart of the BPA mission, and our commitment stands undiminished to this day. This season, it has the backing of a well-organized Board and a thriving institution. It takes a lively community of musicians and listeners to make such a commitment sustainable, and we thank the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra musicians and audience members for their part in keeping our music program lively and growing.
